Overview
The integration between FASTTRAK and GNet has been upgraded to use a new connection. This connection will allow additional troubleshooting capabilities with full transparency of all mapping logic and data payloads between FASTTRAK and GNet. Because the integration has been updated, some logic between V1 and V2 has been modified. This document will summarize those changes to help with a smoother transition.
Important Notes
- FASTTRAK and GNet are gradually transitioning all customers from V1 to V2.
- All customers will be required to update to V2
- No downtime is expected when updating from V1 to V2
- Trips created with the V1 connection are fully supported on the V2 connection
Known Concerns
Data Mapping and Overwriting of modified data
In V1, all data was mapped directly into FASTTRAK without regard for existing information. For example, if trip notes were manually modified in FASTTRAK after the trip was created via GNet V1 connection, any updates of the trip notes from the affiliate (via integration) would overwrite the manual trip notes.
In V2, affiliate data is delineated using bracket details. This allows the integration to know what data was managed by the integration and what data was manually entered.
Example:
In the example below, the first sentence was added by the affiliate (via integration) and the second sentence was updated manually by the provider in FASTTRAK. For clarity, the affiliate data is in blue.
- V1 Trip Notes:
- "Use intercom when you arrive. Please do not use the main driveway."
- V2 Trip Notes
- "[Additional Notes: Use intercom when you arrive.] Please do not use the main driveway."
If the affiliate updated the trip notes, V1 and V2 would handle the updates differently.
- V1 updated Trip Notes:
- "Use intercom when you arrive. The code is 12345."
- V2 updated Trip Notes
- "[Additional Notes: Use intercom when you arrive. The code is 12345.] Please do not use the main driveway."
The manually entered data would have been overwritten.
In short, you shot NOT update any text in the bracketed data as this is data managed by the affiliate. You should only update data outside of the bracketed information.
